Power restored to campus

Update 1:20 p.m.

Power has been restored to the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus after a widespread outage around 10:45 a.m. today (June 24). Around 30 buildings and some cooling systems were affected.

All the boilers and central air compressors in campus heating and cooling plants are back on line and circulation of chilled water is being resumed.

At this time, the cause of the outage is not known.

Facilities Planning & Management is working as quickly as possible to restore all systems to normal capacity.


Update 12:27 p.m.

This morning around 10:45 a.m., the UW–Madison campus was affected by a widespread power outage.

FP&M is restoring power intermittently to affected buildings through backup sources. As a result, some air conditioning capacity may be affected this afternoon.

All are asked to look for ways to reduce heat by closing off unused areas or shutting off unneeded, heat-producing equipment.

FP&M is working as quickly as possible to restore all systems to normal capacity.

Update 11:42 a.m.

Power is being restored gradually across campus. More updates to follow.


Update 10:55 a.m.

Facilities, Planning and Management reports that it will be about another thirty (30) minutes until backup power comes online (approximately 11:30 AM).

Officials from Facilities, Planning and Management are working to restore electrical power. A widespread outage has affected a large area of west campus.
