Constitution Day 2007

September 17, 2007

TO: University of Wisconsin–Madison Students

FROM: Provost Patrick V. Farrell

SUBJECT: Constitution Day 2007

In 2004, legislation was passed that declared September 17 as our nationally designated Constitution Day (public law 108-447). All institutions of higher education that receive federal funding are required to prepare a program to inform students about the U.S. Constitution.

UW-Madison, in recognition of the day, developed a Constitution Day Web site that includes a video interview of UW–Madison Professor of Political Science Donald Downs, as well as links to various Web sites developed by the National Archives and Records Administration. I encourage you to learn more about our nation’s constitution by visiting this Web site.
