Q: A class I am taking requires that I attend theater performances. Where can I find a list of UW–Madison theater performances?

A: University Theater offers many student and faculty performances each semester. Most performances are held at Mitchell Theater on University Avenue. For a complete calendar of events, visit http://www.utmadison.com and click on “On the Stage.” To find out about additional theater and arts opportunities at UW–Madison, visit the Arts Institute Web site, http://www.arts.wisc.edu.

Q: Does the university have a campus women’s center?

A: UW–Madison’s Campus Women’s Center (CWC), located on the fourth floor of the Memorial Union, provides numerous programs for student parents, as well as the general student body. Some of the many programs the CWC offers are free child care for student-parents, peer-facilitated support groups and educational workshops related to women’s issues. Also, the CWC is always looking for volunteers. To learn more about the CWC, visit http://www.campuswomenscenter.org/ or call 262-8093.

Cross country team captures eighth championship

The No. 1 ranked Wisconsin men’s cross country team captured its eighth Big Ten Conference championship Oct. 29 in Bloomington, Ind. The Badgers scored 27 points to best second-place Michigan by 58 points, the third largest margin of victory in conference history. The UW tied its own conference mark for consecutive titles set from 1985-1992.

While the team as a whole ran well, head coach Jerry Schumacher singled out the performances of the team’s younger runners and how they dealt with the pressure of competing in a championship environment. “It really points to a fun future for them,” he says.

The Badgers will now compete Nov. 11 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Bowling Green, Ohio, looking to qualify for their 35th consecutive NCAA championship. Wisconsin is the reigning NCAA champion.
