Homecoming parade to affect downtown traffic patterns

The following downtown streets will be closed on Friday, Oct. 13, for the University of Wisconsin–Madison Homecoming Parade:

  • All of Langdon Street will be closed from 3-7 p.m.
  • Langdon Street from Lake Street to North Park Street will be closed until 8:45 p.m.
  • North Frances Street between State Street and Lake Mendota will be closed from 3-7 p.m.
  • North Henry and North Carroll streets will be closed after their intersections with Gorham Street from 5-7 p.m.
  • The parade route will be closed from 6-7 p.m. The route includes upper Wisconsin Avenue, Gilman Street to State, State Street to Lake Street, and Lake to Langdon. The 100 block of Broom Street will also be closed during the parade.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are urged to be on the lookout for barricades, signs and police officers directing traffic. Tickets will be issued to those parked illegally. Access to the Lake Street parking ramp will be from University Avenue only. Area residents are encouraged to park there or make alternate arrangements.
