Sex Out Loud presents ‘Sexual Health Week’
Sex Out Loud, a UW–Madison student organization promoting sexual health education with a positive message, will hold the annual Sexual Health Week, Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22.
The theme of this year’s event is “Sexpress Yourself.” Highlights include a talk by anti-violence activist Jackson Katz on Monday, April 18, a Spoken Word/Spoken Mic event featuring a performance by El Guante and other local hip-hop artists, and the Friday, April 22 Sexual Health Fest on Library Mall.
“Sex Out Loud’s goal is to reach a large number of students with the information and resources they need to make informed healthy decisions,” says Nina Woldenberg, a student working with the organization.
The 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday festival will provide safer sex information and products. Information will be available on sexual violence, healthy relationships, sexually transmitted infections, effects of drug and alcohol use on decision-making, and sexual pleasure.
Amy Martin, Sexual Health Week event coordinator, says “the week aims to communicate with the UW–Madison campus community about safer sex and other aspects of sexual health by creating an open, fun, interesting and informative series of events.”
