Search begins for new ombuds
The provost’s office is looking for a new ombuds. Ombuds Jane Voichick, who has been with the program since 2006, will step down April 1.
The program serves as a safe and accessible place for faculty and staff to come for informal, neutral and confidential dialogue and conflict resolution. Interested persons can find additional information about the ombuds at Ombuds Office.
Applicants should send a letter of interest that includes relevant experience, together with a resume, to Jane Dymond, Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate, 117 Bascom Hall, by Friday, Feb. 26.
Ombuds are part-time professional employees of UW–Madison (consultants), appointed by the provost when vacancies occur.
Qualifications for ombuds include knowledge of university policies and resources; extensive cross-campus experience; strong communication skills; and the ability to be objective and neutral.
Ombuds are selected from interested retired faculty and academic and classified staff.
In making each appointment, the provost strives for diverse experiences on campus, and a balance of faculty and staff, and of gender and ethnicity.
For questions, contact the ombuds by leaving a message on the office phone (265–9992), or contact an ombuds directly: John Mather, Richard Ralston, Kay Simmons or Jane Voichick.
