Caption: Following the discovery of supernova by the Swift Observatory, the orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory was focused on the exploding star by a team led by UW-Madison astronomer David Pooley. The new-found supernova, the first ever to be caught in the act of exploding, is in a galaxy known as NGC 2770, about 90 million light years from Earth.
