Caption: The human papillomavirus is among the world's most
common sexually-transmitted pathogens. Some forms are implicated in cervical,
head, neck and skin cancers. Work by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
has yielded an ability to easily grow the virus in the lab, an accomplishment
that promises to make the virus, whose biology remains murky, far more accessible
to biomedical science.
