AMENDMENT 1 (passed by a voice vote)

Accordingly, all expression germane to the instructional setting--including but not limited to information, the presentation or advocacy of ideas, assignment of course materials, and teaching techniques--is protected from disciplinary action under this part unless such expression meets both of the following criteria: (ab) the expression would constitutes unlawful discrimination under applicable federal or state statutes and judicial decisions, and (ba) the expression is not protected by traditional notions of academic freedom as reflected through the free speech and other provisions of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin.

 

AMENDMENT 2 (passed by a vote of 71 yes and 62 no)

Accordingly, all expression germane to the instructional setting--including but not limited to information, the presentation or advocacy of ideas, assignment of course materials, and teaching techniques--is protected from disciplinary action. under this part unless such expression meets both of the following criteria: (a) the expression is not protected by traditional notions of academic freedom as reflected through the free speech and other provisions of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin, and (b) the expression constitutes unlawful discrimination under applicable federal or state statutes and judicial decisions, and
