The female flowers are visible at the bottom of the spadix, the light-colored column in the center of this photo of UW-Madison's titan arum. Yesterday evening (June 7, 2001), UW-Madison botanist Paul Berry pollinated the female flowers with donor pollen from a titan arum that just finished flowering at Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Fla.
