The Chancellor’s Office invites UW-Madison students to showcase how you’re advancing the Wisconsin Idea across the state.

Create a short (up to 90 second) video showing the Wisconsin Idea in action – through your studies or research, community service or work creating innovative products or organizations. We’ll select one winner to receive tickets to an upcoming men’s basketball game and be featured in the university’s digital communications.

Looking for inspiration? Here are a few questions to ponder:

  • What are you doing during your time at UW that can create change beyond the boundaries of campus?
  • Can you take us to see the places or people that you’re working to help?
  • Do you see UW’s impact around your hometown?

The winning filmmaker will receive four tickets to the Feb. 10 men’s basketball game against Nebraska. (Tickets are in the lower bowl, near the court).

Entries will be judged based on:

  • originality
  • creativity
  • location (video shot outside of Madison is a plus)
  • voice/personality
  • reflection of the Wisconsin Idea in practice around the state, country or world
  • production value

How to Enter

Videos should be:

  • Created by an individual student. Joint entries (video created by two or more students) will be considered, but the award will be the same.

  • Have a resolution of at least 320 x 240
  • Saved in .mov, .wmv, .mp4, .avi, .m4v, or .flv format
