“Bob has extensive experience addressing security risk and compliance,” says Bruce Maas, UW–Madison’s vice provost for information technology and chief information officer. “He will help create and provide the right mix of security services that meet the most pressing needs at the UW–Madison and throughout the UW System.”

The CISO is responsible for IT security resources campus-wide, as well as within the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).

“I am extremely pleased and honored by this opportunity to serve the UW–Madison community and to help drive IT Security initiatives,” says Turner.  “Together we will proactively improve risk-based security services and systems using the right mixture of people, policy and technology.”

Turner looks forward to focusing on cost-effective risk management strategies that protect critical information. He and his staff will also promote the availability of systems and services to meet the needs of the university’s diverse constituencies.

Turner will begin in his new role on January 7.
