Caption: The University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) is the recipient of a 2008 Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment grant to incorporate a 3-D weather globe into science education and outreach programs. The project features real-time satellite imagery and weather data generated at SSEC and displayed on a two-foot-diameter sphere such as the Magic Planet (R) system pictured. The SSEC globe will be housed at UW-Madison's Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Science (AOSS) building, but also travel to four collaborating educational venues within Wisconsin.
