Until 2011, University Communications maintained a library to serve the research needs of University Communications and other UW-Madison staff by maintaining a collection of university-related newspaper and magazine clippings, collecting University publications, and providing information to answer queries about the university.
The UC Library collection consisted of about 20,000 files containing news clippings about people, departments, buildings, and subjects related to the university. University publications comprised a large part of the collection. A small collection of general reference books, media resources, and UW histories was also in the library.
With the increasing use of digital news and reference sources, the need for a stand-alone University Communications library diminished. In 2010-2011, the entire collection was moved to UW-Madison Archives and Records Management Service. For more information on that collection, please contact Archives and Records Management.
