Library Bridges Atlantic With Joint Web Project

November 14, 1997

In a scholarly transatlantic cooperation, UW–Madison libraries have published the first extensive English translation of work by Iceland’s most important poet of modern times, Jónas Hallgrímsson. A Web site featuring translations and commentary by Scandinavian Studies Professor Dick Ringler will be unveiled Nov. 16 during a concurrent link-up with the National Library in Reykjavík, Iceland. Automation Librarian Peter Gorman developed the site, which includes illustrations and sound.
