Donations sought for Bad River Band flooding victims

July 18, 2016

Devastating storms hit Northern Wisconsin last Monday evening, washing out roads, causing severe flooding and forcing people from their homes. One of the hardest hit communities is the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. Due to the heavy overflow from the Bad River, which runs straight through the reservation, the community is physically divided, and many people on opposite sides of the river cannot go to their homes and families members. As the community was not prepared for roads being completely washed away they were not supplied with everyday necessities.

The office of the American Indian Campus and Community Liaison in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement will be collecting donations of food, clothing, baby necessities (clothes, diapers, wipes), toiletries, etc. These donations can be dropped off at 173 Bascom Hall. Donations collected will be sent on Monday, July 18 and Saturday, July 23Monetary donations can be sent to the Bad River Tribal Relief Fund, Account # 2236069189, at any Associated Bank branch or through PayPal.
