Spathe peels away exposing lower spadix
This image shows what is left of the flowering structure. The spathe has rotted and peeled away. The top of the spire (spadix) has collapsed and shrunk, but still has not detached. Female flowers - now light orange and developing into fruits - are visible at the base. Above the female flowers and below the toppled spadix tip are the darkened remnants of the male flowers.
