Moving crews installed South African artist Mary Sibande’s sculpture "Sower in the Field" at UW–Madison's Chazen Museum of Art on Feb. 27. Sibande's works, exhibited in leading museums around the world, deal with race, gender and labor in South Africa, including her family's forced domestic work imposed by the then-apartheid state.

A study day, but with dogs and art
Students got together to study — and pet dogs — during Study Day at the Chazen Museum of Art on Dec. 16. The pet-therapy event is intended to provide a study break for students as they head into final-exam week.
A big-time installation
Worker used a gantry earlier this month to guide a 15-foot wide painting into place at the Chazen Museum of Art. The 1971 acrylic painting called "Danse Élanse" by artist Jean Dubuffet can now be seen on a wall of the main lobby.

‘Behind the Canvas’
"Behind the Canvas" explores American artist Jim Dine’s latest contribution to the Chazen Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Dine's four-panel mural exploring and honoring the art of classical antiquity took more than two years to make and crossed the ocean before its eventual installation in Madison. With footage capturing Dine at work in his Paris studio, the film documents the artist’s creative process as well as the transportation and highly technical installation of the work.
