Students, families asked to plan ahead for snow, Winter Commencement

December 20, 2013

UW-Madison students and parents are encouraged to plan ahead for the 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 Winter Commencement ceremony at the Kohl Center.

A winter storm is expected to bring 5-10 inches of snow beginning Saturday evening and may complicate the plans of students, parents, families and guests. View the latest forecast.

Ceremonies will be held as scheduled, regardless of weather.

All should allow extra travel time to ensure they are able to reach the Kohl Center.

Walking in the ceremony itself does not affect your status as a UW–Madison graduate. For those unable to attend, the ceremonies will stream live. The ceremony will last approximately two hours. Smaller school and college events are also expected to be held as planned.

The university will have extra crews working on clearing nearby sidewalks, along with plowing for nearby city streets and parking lots.

If you have questions or concerns, email snow@mhub.uwpd.wisc.edu. Other logistical details about the ceremonies are available at the Commencement website.

Additional weather and event updates will be provided on the university’s home page, as available.
