UWPD: Timely Warning information on Sept. 22 incident

September 22, 2013

UWPD distributed the following message to the campus community on Sept. 22:

Members of the UW–Madison Community,

You are receiving this Timely Warning message as part of UW–Madison’s commitment to providing campus-area crime information in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or, Clery Act, as it is commonly known.

On Sunday, September 22 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a college age woman was walking alone on Langdon Street near Frances Street when she was approached by a man who pushed her to the ground, grabbed her head, and forced it to the ground.  The victim kicked the suspect and he fled.   The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20’s, 6’3”, thin build, blonde hair with a buzz cut, and last seen wearing a long white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The City of Madison Police Department is actively investigating this case.  If anyone has any information about the crime, please call the Madison Police Department Central District at 608-266-4316.

While the UW–Madison Police Department works with the City of Madison Police Department to solve these, and other recent near-campus crimes, we remind you once again to please take your personal safety seriously.  Never walk alone or in small groups – especially at night.  See more general safety tips.

See more information on the Clery Act, and why you’re receiving this federally mandated Timely Warning.
