Wisconsin Alumni Association honors Odyssey Project founder

October 18, 2006

University of Wisconsin–Madison English Professor Emily Auerbach will be honored at the Cabinet 99 Symposium on Friday, Nov. 3.

A 1976 UW graduate, Auerbach has been changing lives for the past three years through the Odyssey Project, a free college humanities course for adults facing financial barriers to higher education.

Auerbach, who holds a joint position with the Division of Continuing Studies and the Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts, plans to use the Cabinet 99 award to set up a fund for immediate Odyssey Project student needs to ensure they continue to move forward on a path to higher learning.

A Wisconsin Alumni Association initiative, Cabinet 99 was formed to support leadership development, mentoring and advocacy policies and programs affecting women at the university.

This year’s symposium celebrates UW women in science. The full-day event, featuring faculty talks and the luncheon award presentation, is open to the public.
